Arnold Palmer “A Modern Day Hero”

Born the 10th September 1929 in Pennsylvania, Arnold Daniel Palmer is one of the most prominent figures in golf.

Winner of numerous tournaments since 1955, he has marked history of this sport with his achievements.
When television in the 1950’s began to transmit the major competitions, he was the most recognised ambassador for this sport and through his charisma, made the popularity of golf in the US what it is today. This aspect was reinforced by the maintained rivalry with his greatest adversary Jack Nicklaus.
In 1960, he was the first golfer to make the cover of Time Magazine.

During his career, he has claimed numerous Grand Slam Tournaments, notably:

The Masters in 1958, 1960, 1962 and 1964
The US Open in 1960
The British Open in 1961 and 1962

He finally closed the chapter in his professional career at the age of 75 with a 50th consecutive Masters in Augusta in 2004. He continued to play in the Senior Tour in 2005.

Legend of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Palmer has pursued his career in the creation of golf courses worldwide, notably the first course in the Peoples Republic of China. With the actor Clint Eastwood, he founded in 1999 the renowned Pebble Beach Golf in California.
In the 1990’s he was first approached by Japanese investors to create a new golf on the site of Crecy Golf Club.
After years of turmoil, the agreement to design and sign the course was agreed and in autumn 2006 the work started to result in what is today: The Vignoly Course
